At the invitation of IndyACT, the Middle East Center for Sustainable Harvest and Anti-Poaching (MECSHAP) participated in the National Fisheries Conference in Lebanon under the slogan “Bringing the Pulse Back to the Sea”, held at the Grand Serail under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam, and organized by the Ministry of Agriculture in cooperation with IndyACT, the University of Balamand, and ACTED, with official and security-level attendance.

The Center was represented at the conference through a delegation that included MECSHAP President Adonis El Khatib, alongside members of the Anti-Poaching Unit field operations team, Head of Studies and Projects Unit Joey El Ahmar, and Head of Technology and Artificial Intelligence Unit Alain Al Arja, partner and director at MAPOS.TECH, the company that developed the Center’s official website, along with Imad Bou Rslan, partner and director in the company.

On the sidelines of the conference, the Center’s President met with Minister of Agriculture Dr. Nizar Hani and IndyACT Advisor Mr. Wael Hmaidan to discuss the readiness of the Anti-Poaching Unit to contribute to developing a marine operational mechanism to combat illegal fishing, based on the principle of partnership with the sustainable hunting and fishing community, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and IndyACT. He also stressed that nature cannot be divided, and that effective nature protection is achieved through the integration of terrestrial wildlife and marine ecosystem protection.
