In Just 4 Hours… 24,750 Square Meters of Bird-Killing Nets Removed in Northern Lebanon

In another significant achievement in the fight against illegal hunting, the North Lebanon Investigation Detachment of the Internal Security Forces (ISF), working in close operational and intelligence cooperation with the Joint Operations Team of the Anti-Poaching Unit (APU), affiliated with the Middle East Center for Sustainable Harvest and Anti-Poaching (MECSHAP) and the international Committee Against Bird Slaughter (CABS), successfully removed 24,750 square meters of bird-killing nets in northern Lebanon in just four hours.

The operation was carried out in coordination with the Head of the Command and Control Room for the North Lebanon Region, the Head of the North Lebanon Investigation Detachment, and the detachment’s officers.

The operation was particularly challenging due to the high density of nets, their widespread placement among orchards, and the considerable heights at which they had been installed, making their removal a demanding field task requiring intensive effort.

This achievement follows a large-scale operation conducted in cooperation with the Bekaa Investigation Detachment of the Internal Security Forces, which resulted in the removal of 38,280 square meters of bird-killing nets in northern Bekaa over three days.

Together, the two operations resulted in the removal of a total of 63,030 square meters of bird-killing nets, highlighting the high level of coordination and field cooperation between the Directorate General of the Internal Security Forces and the Anti-Poaching Unit’s operations team in their shared efforts to protect birds and wildlife in Lebanon.
