Transfer and Release of Protected Wild Birds During a Joint APU and CABS Patrol in Baalbek-Hermel

During a joint field patrol conducted by members of the Anti-Poaching Unit (APU) and CABS in the Baalbek-Hermel region, two Syrian Serins and four Corn Buntings were found in the possession of Mr. Zulfiqar Sharif.

After being informed of the legal status of these species, which are classified as protected birds and whose hunting, possession, or trade is prohibited, Mr. Sharif voluntarily handed the birds over to the team.

The team took custody of the birds and subsequently released them into suitable natural habitats, ensuring their return to the wild and allowing them to continue their role within the local ecosystem and biodiversity.

The Anti-Poaching Unit extends its appreciation to Mr. Zulfiqar Sharif for his cooperation and positive response, emphasizing that compliance with environmental laws and cooperation with the relevant authorities are essential factors in protecting wildlife and conserving protected species in Lebanon.
